Neck Injury is one of the most common accidents for sports athletes who practice in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts.
This is not really a shock when you consider the truth that they get hit and quit in the face, put in jampacked maintains and neck churns and sometimes take unpleasant comes right down on their brains. So how do you avoid neck accidents if you are a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu or Mixed Martial Arts fighter?
Well, in all loyalty, you can not avoid all neck accidents 100% of time. But you can take actions to keep your neck Powerful, Flexible and able to restore quicker. First of all, accidents avoidance begins with the basic principles.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS heated up and expand your neck before you get involved in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts.
This will tell your body that you are about to put pressure on it and it needs to be ready. At my Mixed Martial Arts gym in Keller, TX I have to be there to show sessions every day so accidents avoidance is key. Which is why I always expand and heated up my neck before category begins. I also have my learners do the same.
Next, you should put together a durability and mobility program particularly for your neck. Simple ‘range of motion’ and ‘resistance’ workouts are simple enough to do yourself but if you really want to guarantee the protection of your neck you need to find someone who is certified to give you recommend and help you with the workouts.
Finally, you need to know when to stop exercising Mixed Martial Arts and BJJ when you are accidents.
As with any accidents, trying to force through the pain will only result in a extended period to restore.
